THOMAS B. TROTTER

SR., ARCHITECT

Tom Trotter is a native of Sevier County in East Tennessee. He established the firm, Trotter · De Foe Architects, in 1985. During his early career working for Community Tectonics in Gatlinburg, Tom learned a respect for design excellence and fine craftsmanship in construction from the late Hubert Bebb. Tom’s designs reflect his appreciation of the Appalachian environment and culture through his extensive use of natural materials and vernacular details. These characteristics have given Tom’s designs a signature quality, which potential clients both recognize and value. While with Community Tectonics, Tom gained extensive experience in the design and construction of a variety of building types, such as community centers for Sevierville and Gatlinburg, condominium apartments (four projects in Gatlinburg), motels, banks, retail buildings, as well as single-family residential projects.

Mr. Trotter previously served as a member of the Gatlinburg Board of Adjustments and Appeals (Chairman), the Pigeon Forge Board of Zoning Appeals, the Pigeon Forge Planning Commission (Chairman), the Sevier County Task Force for Government Affairs, the Gatlinburg task force for Transportation and Parking, and the Chairman of the committee to establish the Gatlinburg Architectural Guidelines. He was a charter board member of the Gatlinburg Gateway Foundation.
